has any one thought about the fact if you we want to help any one with something like cheap computer. What about our own failing school systems here in the United State. We have schools that could not buy books for all the students were something like this could give students a way to have all the book in one $100 package. Thats if you can get the publishers to give up on the charging schools and arm and a leg for each copy

If you don’t think this is offensive, you fail to grasp the basic reason why Nigerian email scams actually happen. They’re dirt fucking poor you morons, that’s why when a big asshole comes up to them and gets them to work in a sweatshop full of PC’s sending out scam emails all day, they accept. Do you honestly think the individuals behind the scam emails are the ones pocketing the bulk of the money? Those kids with the OLPC computers actually have a chance - to develop skills that you laugh off as pathetic in your country. It’s a BIG DEAL. I am so honestly offended by this it’s not even funny. Perhaps I should post a picture of little American children fondling weapons, with thought bubbles going on about how they’re gonna “cap some terrorist ass” or “fuck some towel heads up”. It would be equally as offensive, and equally as “funny” and appropriate.

Honestly, it is funny. But it also makes you consider what are the ramifications of enabling the most poverty stricken classes to use the internet. Ive been a power seller on ebay now for about 2 years and I cant tell you how many times someone will win my auction, then ask me if I can ship to an address in Nigeria. If I say I can then they will forge a fake email from paypal that says they paid me although they did not. Its all a scam.
So if they want me to ship to Nigeria, how could you tell me that these scammers arent from there?

I think these forums give people a chance to vent their spleens and talk about things. If anything the internet has made men talk a lot more, previously the preseve of women. understanding each other eventually through dialogue we soon realise that the only thing that separates us from each other is the colour of our skin and the different cultures we hold dear to ourselves. Ultimately it was just a joke and most jokes hurt when they have a smattering of truth to them. There are scammers in Nigeria, let us not deny it. A few people have spoilt the image of nigeria but they were not to know that the west will always take the negative aspects of any “third world” country and try to assuage their own peoples’ feelings of resentment at their lot by letting them know someone out there is suffering more! I am a Nigerian and dont feel offended. It is a fact of life that jokes are made about peoples, and it is also true that for the mean time people of lighter skin tone have the monopoly on which jokes get given the greatest airing. Suffice it to say a joke about say for instance ‘British men given free packs of extra strong condoms’ with captions like “I think I know a little boy down the road who fancies a s@~#” Or “Looks like it is happy days for me and my daughter!”
These are truths that happen every day but people of colour have got better things to do. That is the truth, racism is not what it is. Racism is where people of a certain race are hindered from bettering themselves by the actions of people of a different race. Calling me names may hurt, may bring back memories of those words being used in a racist way…”go back to your own country, nigger”

People should learn to tolerate each other. Truth is we cant all be friends…even amongst our differing races and cultures we hate each other…so dont panic! But the sooner people dont look down on the impoverished…who incidently inhabit both the ‘Third’ and ‘First’ worlds…the sooner these divisions will fade into history…It may not happen in our lifetimes, but it will one day. In the end the have nots can not stay put down forever..look at the Brish empire…the Roman empire…need I say more? Keep safe everyone, life if full of challenges, it is how we deal with them that counts, not wether or not a picture is offensive.
