Misty May-Treanor has had to leave the popular Dancing with the Stars television show after an injury in practice where she ruptured her Achilles tendon.
On Friday she sustained the injury and received immediate medical attention, but the problem was too severe to allow her to continue dancing. She will have surgery this week to help correct the problem and it's not known what her long term prognosis will be when it comes to her professional beach volleyball career.
The good news is that May-Treanor was planning on taking some time away from volleyball in order to spend more time with her husband, so, if the injury had to happen, it could not have happened at a better time.
The show will likely keep viewers updated with Misty's progress and whether she'll be able to return – perhaps on another season. The injury was startling, since Misty is a pro athlete, but it shows that anyone can be injured, even while just dancing.
