He said goodnight to his father before six in the evening on the first day of the year because the family had a long day playing and he was tired. Since he suffered from a seizure disorder and Kawasaki disease (an inflammatory problem that can cause heart disease and other problems in young children) he had a nanny with him.

He apparently fell and hit his head in the bathtub when he suffered a seizure, and was found by the nanny. The cause of death was determined to be seizure disorder. His father and the paramedics were unable to revive him and his family is devastated that the time they got to spend with him on this earth, was so brief. However, they want to thank everyone who sent condolences for their sudden and unexpected loss.

The family also has a daughter who is eight years old and they had purchased the property in the Bahamas not long ago as a vacation spot. Jett Travolta was sixteen.
